IL West Hockey News Article "One Of The Most Lethal And Dangerous - Landen Porter"

Landen Porter, a three-year Plainfield varsity forward, has been an offensive threat all season. Actually, many seasons.

Through 24 games this season, he had 16 goals and 20 assists. In Plainfield’s first 14 games in IHSHL West play, he went only two games without a point and had four games with at least three points.

Over the past four seasons, he has scored 161 goals and 133 assists in 220 games.

“I’m a playmaker and goal scorer,” said Porter, 17, who lives in Plainfield, is a senior at Plainfield Central High School and formerly skated for the Jaguars, Hawks and Sabres.

Sporting jersey No. 91, Porter has been an Illinois West All-Star, an AHAI Developmental Camp invitee (twice), a state champion and more.

“Landen Porter (has been) one of the most lethal and dangerous scorers in the state over the past three seasons, accumulating 160 points in those three seasons,” said Plainfield head coach Myke Bangs. “His hands, vision and shot make him a threat every time he touches the ice.

“What makes Landen truly exceptional is his leadership and character. Landen leads by example and brings out the best out of others around him. We wouldn’t be where we are as a program without Landen and his leadership group.”

Plainfield is 16-8 in league play with wins in two of their last three league games.

The key to Porter’s prowess in the offensive end of the rink: hard work, he said.

Away from the rink, Porter plays varsity lacrosse and golf.

“I try to be as much of a leader as I can,” he said.
